I just talked to my mechanic and I don't think I will have enough for both the Exdy Clutch and ACT Flywheel. I'm considering just doing the new factory clutch and the ACT Flywheel seeing as I don't really race so i don't "need" a clutch that can hold a lot. I've heard that sometimes the materials of the clutch and flyhweel doesn't always work extremely well. Would the OEM clutch and ACT Billet Steel Flywheel materials work together fine?

I know this thread is a couple of weeks old but i'd rather not have to find out this question the hard way. thanks

I had the same problem. I went with the exedy clutch n no flywheel. I'm regretting not waiting 2weeks r so after i got my clutch and had the money for the labor 2 get the flywheel. B/c my mechanic builds and races cars for a living n he said the flywheel wouldn't of given me more horsepower but quicker acceleration. dont b impatient if you already have the money for the clutch n labor wait a week r 2 n you should have the extra 2 r 3 bucks for the flywheel. Atleast thats what i coul've n should've did

I definitely agree with those who say to wait an extra couple of weeks and get the extra money to be able to get the clutch and flywheel...unless of course you're not intending on doing any more mods to your car and know that you won't be needing a better clutch for a long time.

The money you save by doing the clutch and flywheel together is well worth waiting a couple of weeks for...plus, go for a Fidanza 7lb flywheel and save $30-some...

It would take me much more than a couple of weeks to afford it. I'm paying my own threw college and now I only work one day a week which I make maybe $50/wk after taxes and that goes to the usual stuff. So yes I won't be doing any new mods anytime soon so just go for it?

Edit: By the way I don't have enough for the Exedy Clutch. I can do the Fly wheel.

I would take the Exedy clutch and OEM fly over stock clutch aftermarket fly.

The Exedy clutch is wonderful, you won't regret it. It's probably my favorite mod on the car currently, the engagement is smooth but strong and the clutch feel is communicative without being heavy.

Interesting, thanks for your advice. Do you have a lightwieght Fly as well? I've never felt the difference between a OEM and aftermarket clutch before but I have never thought that the OEM clutch had any problem grabbing or anything. I have felt the difference from a Fly on my sister's car and loved it. I mean if the car will accelerate a lil faster with the Fly I'd almost rather do that and just deal with how heavy or what not the clutch feels. I have no problems with the way the stock clutch has been.

I would go ACT HDSS. Exedy is good only as a stock replacement. If you dont plan on modding the car much and dont beat on it too much, Exedy is fine.

It just depends on how serious you are about modding this car. A flywheel does feel nice, it revs much easier, but dont look for some astronomical difference. If money is tight, it isnt a necessity.

Thanks. The Exedy isn't a necessity either and you say it's only good for a stock replacement. This just makes me choose the aftermarket Fly over the aftermarket Clutch more. I know there isn't going to be a huge difference fromthe Fly but there may be less of a difference with the Exdy clutch. I'm just trying to weigh the two out. i just want the car to be a lil more fun with this because I prob won't be able to do any other mods for a long time.
