Default Car not accelerating

OK, i'm pretty frustrated at my car. I have an oil leak, but the oil is always kept up with, at the top of the dip stick. But recently ever since that oil leak, my car feels like it doesnt accelerate above 4500 RPMS, but when it hit's 2nd vtec, it kicks in again? Is there something wrong iwith my oil pressure? or something?

Why don't you fix the oil leak and then go from there?

:werd: I think this Shmoo guy is onto something.

Could a lack of oil pressure do to your leak be the problem?
That's my educated guess, if the oil indeed has any part in the issue.

Good luck either way, homie.

sounds like ur getting rid of more oil than u think u are. my car does the exact same thing, since it burns oil. it runs really great for the first two weeks, but when i start dogging it about the 3rd week, when it really gets goin, it hesitates to get higher rpms. it feels like it MISFIRES and then it kicks in again. if you dont watch ur oil level, this can happen!

what ended up happening the first time was my engine could not rev over 6500 rpms and the check engine came on. i even took it to a shop and they couldnt figure it out. i thot i had checked everything, but sooner or later i found out my engine was too low on oil! ur engine has to be well lubed to be dogged most of the time! i say just take it easy with ur car till u get the oil problem fixed. otherwise, ur just begging for a new engine!

vtec runs off oil pressure. if you're low on oil, it may not even be kicking in at all which would explain the acceleration problem.

btw...there is no second vtec. those are the secondaries you hear at 5800, which is not part of the vtec system.

ok, well i replaced the gasket, and now there is a VERY VERY SMALL and slow leak. i just cant seem to get it to stop. i had a torque wrench and torqued it down to 9lb's of torque in a star-like shape. i feel like if i tighten it more it will crack the gasket.

anyways, i was wondering if my power bog might have anything to do with my battery? because i was stupid and didn't refill the cells with water so i had parked at school, and the car wouldnt start, so i had to push start it. when i started it, i gave it gas, at probably 2.5k rpm, the car bog majorly, and then hopped back up into the power band. any ideas?

oh and when i try to go above 4.5k rpm, at WOT, the car just makes a shitload of noise, like a ricer going no where.

i also have a whole in my exhaust, which happened really recently, wondering if that had anything to do with my power lag?

There isn't any trick for it. Just make it is seated on the pan correctly and the bolts/nuts are torqued to the right amount.
