newb 93 teg rim question
Just bought a 93 LS, have done nothing to it so far. After cold air and exaust, I was thinking about some rims.
I know you racing guys are anti-big-alloy, but I want something that will look better than the stock plastic 15'' hubcaps. Which look like something taken from the side of the road.
So my question is this: What dimensions will my car take? I'd like 17 inches, but how wide must they be? And what's p185/80r15 mean in english? Also, new springs and a few inches lower are in the plan as well, how should that affect the decision?
And finally, as I'd like to keep my car nimble while looking good, is there an alternative to alloys, that looks decent at a lower weight? I'd buy black/gunmetal rims anyways, none of this shiny business.
I appreciate any info/links on wheels at all, as I'm as clueless as they come.

i have a 93 GS and with drop springs 15's look fine. 17's are heavy and slow you down. if you dont care then go for it. P185\80 R15 means P Passanger. 185 is how wide they are. 80 is how tall the tire is. R is radial. 15 means 15 inch rims. get some nice 15 or 16 inch light weight rims no wider then 205 and you should be good.
Have you considered a stock rim like the fat fives or blades? IMO, Honda offered some of the best looking stock rims with their cars.
I wouldn't go any larger than 16" if you do decide on aftermarket wheels.

So I've got the tire size issue cleared up. Now onto rim sizes.
Rims say 16x7.5. What's the second number for?
Bolt pattern and offset say something like 4x100+43mm. Bolt pattern means four bolts by 100 what? and what does the offset number describe? What do I need for a G2 integra?
Thanks for your patience guys, one day I shall indeed understand your language.

16x7.5 means a 7.5 inch wide rim (which i'm pretty sure is too wide for your car)
the 4x100x+43 is 4 bolt, 100mm diameter (of the bolt circle) and +43 (mm i think?) offest, which means how far the centerline of the rim protrudes past the lugnuts, in towards the center of the car. (that last part i'm not certain of, so correct me if i'm wrong, guys) does that help?
basically if you want to do this right, just go find some civic si or gsr stock wheels, and throw them on your car with 205/50/15 tires. 15" tires are waaay cheaper than 16 and 17, and you'll get better results. then lower the car 1.5" and you're good to go. it will look tight and hadle like it's on rails.
this is a great utility here http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html to help you figure out what size tire to run. if you're in it for performance, you'll want a tire that's ever so slightly smaller diameter than stock (because it will lower your gearing and essentially make your car a little faster)
