Default Installed!

Well, yesterday a buddy of mine and I installed the new clutch, pressure plate and flywheel. Total install took about 6.5 hours. We followed the Helms word for word and worked very methodically.
First thoughts:
Clutch feel is much better. It grabs like a mo-fo.
Effort to push the peddle down is twice as much. My calf muscles are going to be huge.

We had no major problems with the install. I had many air tools that assisted me though. One minor problem that we had and some words of wisdom. When you put the transmission back in, make sure all plugs and wires are clear. We pinched the reverse light connector a bit. Now it won't snap on to the bracket. It's cosmetic more than anything. The actual connection was un-damaged.

Thanks again Shmoo for all the insight on when you did your clutch. If anyone needs install advice, please let me know and I'll be happy to help out.

Just to remind everyone. Here is the clutch/flywheel combo I got:
Streetlite ACT XACT Flywheel 12.5lb and an ACT HDSS Clutch Kit

Good to hear that it went smoother than mine did.

I didn't feel much difference with my 8.8lb flywheel, so I'll bet that the 12.5lb that you have is pretty similar to stock.

Did you have to adjust the pedal after installation? I did because the new clutch was engaging right at the floor.

Good choice on clutch, I love mine.

For everything in the picture, it was $600 shipped from prostreetonline.com

Yes, the 12.5 is simular to stock. I do notice that it revs a little quicker, but nothing huge.
I didn't have to adjust the pedal at all. Mine engages right as it comes off the floor as well, but I like that feeling. It's all preferance.
I can't wait for the break in period to be over so I can really see what it can do. Only 450 more miles.

They say it's better for daily driving, but once you get used to an 8lb flywheel, you won't notice a difference.

Exactly. I am used to my 8.8lb flywheel already and I am glad I didn't go with the heavier flywheel.
