Timing belt break 95 GSR
Yep, coming back from a long trip in the '95 GSR(150k), going around a corner and its dead coming out. Nothing. So I did the thing where you crank it a couple times and look at the lobe through the oil hole and its in the same position.
Oh well. I'm going to get a belt at Auto Zone. They say there aren't any gaskets, use use the rpv silicone.
Of course my question is did I mess up any valves? I'm going to try putting on the new belt and see if it runs....Obviously if it hammers when it cranks over with a new belt I screwed it up.

1. Get an oem timing belt, not an autozone brand.
2. I'd pull the head and find out if there is damage before you try and run it. You don't want any valves to break and get inside the cylinder, causing even more damage.

Is it obvious that something is messed up, like there is a dent in a piston and the corrsponding valve is off center?

Arg I need to change my belt pretty soon... Anyone know what the OEM belts say on them or which brand they are? Because the belts in my car now, are all Mitsuboshi... which leads me to believe that when they replaced the radiator/hoses for the previous owner, she may have had the belts changed as well... Otherwise I need to get it in the shop ASAP for a belt change. Running strong @ 103k miles
for the belts ur best off calling up ur local honda or acura dealer they got the good stuff but yea man ur in a lot of trouble if u didnt mess anything up ull be really lucky a blown timing belt can really mess ur enigne up u definatly need to pull the head off and take a look good luck with it
DOnt pull the head just yet. Remove the valve cover, use a wrench to turn the cam shaft over. Don't let the valve springs turn the cam and pull the wrench out of your hand and hurt yourself. if it turns all the way around, this is good. Turn it so one set of valves is closed and rotate the crank pully. feel for compression. Do this with each set of valves. If you have compression, your good to go.
