Default swap question

could a gsr motor bolt into an Ls, using the ls tranny, axles, linkage etc. (only swapping the actual motor). i am considering ls/vtec but i dont like all the unreliability stories ive heard. I have heard good things about the ls tranny and the abuse it can take, so im wondering if i could more or less "drop" a gsr motor into an ls without too much other work being done. i know it probably sounds stupid, but any information or suggestions would be appreciated.

Yes you can. Everything is the same. You should have no issues. Just get a VTEC computer and run the 3 wires for the VTEC and your on your way. Unless you are going turbo it's not worth it to use that LS tranny due to it's long gears but to each his own.

would the performance suffer that much from the ls tranny? the reason i am considering this is strictly the money issue. down the road after the swap i would like to get a new tranny, hopefully with an LSD. also, what exactly would i need, just the longblock?

Well all the power is still there. The thing is let's say that your gonna run at the track(¼ mile) with the LS tranny it will take you longer to get up to speed as with the Gsr,si,type r tranny's will get there a whole lot faster due to there shorter gears. Understand? I hope I explained it right.

NP! Keep in mind that you can sell the ls and buy a GSR tranny. Lots of people out there looking to buy ls trannys for turbos.

They are idiots. You want the shortest geared tranny regardless of turbo or not for fastest acceleration.
