That was like 6 yrs. ago for me, but I know people like that are still out there, I was fortunate to have never got caught or caused an accident, but as I have learned from others, I'm all track now.
My clutch grabs quickly since it is near worn out...this means I have to feed more throttle from a stop, which means an occasional abrupt start. So that could be it...

Bur what about the other 90 percent of the time?

Maybe b/c I take care of my Teg and the car still looks new? Is a clean shiny car an invitation to race?

most street racers here have civics or neons with i/e on a stock engine and arent worth racing and getting a big fine from the police. it rains non stop here so i dont get too many ricers wanting to race unless they dont have enough power to spin their tires on the wet pavement.

The civic and neon thing is a Washington thing.

Grabbing quick is more of a problem with brand new clutches. Old and worn ones tend to grab late and slip.

Never had that problem in good old Stafford, at least along 610. I see plenty of those type, but they never bother me.

By grabbing quickly, I mean you cannot slip the clutch at all...the clutch is either fully engaged or fully disengaged, nothing in between...the difference is a scant 1 cm of travel.

However, the clutch engages at mid-height for the pedal throw...

Yes, I agree I have all kinds of people wanting to race my 98 GS-R Sonic Blue especially when my wife is riding w/ me. It's stock w/ just tint. I guess it depends on the day & where I'm at because I tend to get alot more people wanting to run me when I'm drive my 91 Civic Si w/ B16A1 I,H,E. or our 05 TL. That's always going to happen. Just like back in the day in my 90 GSX & my 1974 VW Superbeetle. You just have to ignore these fools & tell them to hollar at you at the track.

Which reminds me, I didn't tell any of you this but about a month ago I was going southbound on the 405 and I was doing about 70 and I was coming up on a 240, from behind I could see the huge exhaust turned sideways, & his FL plates and then dude stuck his lt. arm out of the window and put a thumbs down on my GSR. I cruised up along side him and looked over and he keeps popping his throttle so I could hear his BOV. The 240 looked good, I was not going to even attempt it. Regardless of what kind of car was trying to punk me, I had my daughter in the car. Once he saw I wasn't down, he spotted an S2000 that looked pretty dope and he went after it looking for a race, not to condone freeway racing, but homeboy in the 240 got lit up, the S2000 pulled away from him like he was standing still. Not sure what exactly the s2000 had, but it didn't back down. So now I am beginning to think the 240 was un-tuned, or he had one of those BOV horns that hooks up to your battery and engages at a certain RPM. What a dissapoint for the 240 all that bark and no bite.
