Default 86 teg engine code?

I got ahold of a 86 teg for 100$. He says its got a 1.6 in it, but i thought it has a 1.8. Can someone fill me in on the engine code for this car? I know its not V-tec.

So what kind of mods can i do to it? Im thinking of rebuilding it from the ground up with better internals, boosting it and stuffing it into my '98 Civic to replace the current D16Y8. I wanted to use a B engine but this kinda fell into my lap. Cant go wrong with 100$.

Like what? I saw that i can put ZC internals, but im not sure how much difference it'll make. And is it possible to change it to a Vtec? Can i just bolt on a Vtec head and run the proper ECU with some wire harness mods? A point in the right direction would be appreciated.
