I have a random tech. I'm happy with it so far.

I don't believe car-sound has a bolt on cat for a 00' LS. You might have to get someone to custom weld the flanges.

IPSracing has a good customer track record for welding up carsound converters.

That should work out just fine because OBDI doesn't have a secondary sensor. As for the cat I would suggest that you leave it on. Running a straight pipe instead of a high flow cat yields a very minor gain. It would give a small power gain but who knows what it does to your torque numbers. It's not worth polluting the enviroment over over such a tiny gain.

What's the better buy here though, an ECU plus a conversion harness or a new secondary O2 sensor?

Has anyone had problems passing emissions on a OBDII vehicle equipped with a OBDI ECU?

How do you know this gives you a minor gain and loss in torque... Do you have evidence to back your statement up, cause im very interested in seeing what the test pipe actually does as far as numbers go. As far as your statement that it pollutes the enviorment i agree 100% with you.

This info can be found at Team-Integra.net in the exhaust articles. You can thank Tuan over at TI for the info.

Aftermarket High Flow Cats Versus Testpipes On A Daily Driver:

Comparing a 2.5 in. testpipe (RED) to a 2.5 in. Carsound cat (BLUE) in the same ITR ( 1.8L B18C5 ) with a CAI, Toda B cams, an SMSP 4-2-1 long hybrid header (2.5 in. OD collector), and SMSP 2.5 in. OD exhaust, Apex Power FC fuel tuning:

I never specifically stated that you would lose torque in my previous post. The numbers look to be 188.5 with the Carsound and 190 with the straight pipe, but the graph looks blurry and my vision is pretty bad.

How's that for "evidence" ?

that is very good evidence...but you are comparing a highflow cat to a test pipe...now can you tell me how much more hp gain the test pipe or the high flow is compared to the stock cat?

$120.97 w/ napa discount or $109 for obd1 harness and ~$100 for obd1 ecu+ obd1 for future modifications

Of course it's being compared to a high flow cat, that's what we're discussing here. Look at the thread title. You said your interested in seeing what the test pipe actually does as far as numbers go not the "stock cat". Who cares about the stock cat, we all know it doesn't flow worth a shit, that's not what it was designed to do? Good luck finding someone who would waste money on dyno time running a stock setup.
