Default Strut/Sway bars

What brands are preffered to these, and what is a decent price? I saw some megan racing ones for around 50.

Strut and sway bars are two different things.

I have a comptech sway and tie bar on my car. I got the combo for $350 and it is, hands down, the best suspension upgrade I have done so far.

Neuspeed makes a great front strut bar. Rear tie bars are usually just garbage made for aesthetic purposes. Skunk2 and DC sports make them, but I would recommend the comptech sway/tie bar combo anyday over those worthless pieces of metal. Megan racing stuff isn't the highest quality, but it isn't the worst stuff out there. I would stay away from it, however, and opt for a more ridgid, brand name design.

Here is my comptech sway/tie bar combo:



Notice how much thicker the sway bar is over the stock one. Also the tie bar reinforces the chassis to prevent subframe tearout since the connection the bolts make is one of the weaker points of the chassis.

How much did that help you out, on ride comfort or just for cornering and what not?

It doesn't do anything for ride comfort but it does reduce body roll and understeer tremendously through corners.

I assume that is what you are looking for, right?

With suspension equipment, NEVER skimp. Your car and it's ability to drive rests entirely upon it.

Good brands are Neuspeed, Compech, OEM, Spoon, SRR, and a couple others. If something looks like too much of a bargain, it probably is.

Ok... but yea, im just looking for better cornering somewhere down the line.

Your first step should be a stiffer spring than stock with a drop of your choosing. Then you can think about strut bars and sway bars. A nice set of tires will be just as much of an upgrade, handling wise, than any strut bar.

agreed comptech is the best, as shmoo and a few of the others have mentioned...

Also, the OEM Type-R rear sway bar is a great upgrade but it doesn't have the tie bar combo like Comptech. The Type-R sway is also a cheap way to go if you don't want to spend $350.

If I had it to do all over again I'd probably just get the Comptech sway/tie bar. I bought the OEM ITR swaybar and the BEAKS kit... it's working just fine, but I have since become a little worried about tearout. So, I bought the Comptech tiebar/subframe reinforcement piece. I have now spent more than if I had just purchased the Comptech sway/tie setup in the first place.
