Default 2000 Integra. Idle'd Funny and now CEL is on.

ok

2000 integra ls
54k miles

just got an oil change 3 days ago, everything was fine.

started up my car this afternoon and it was revving from 1k - 2.5k for a while. it's NEVER done that before so i knew something was up. i eventually just drove off and about 5 minutes later at a red light my check engine light came on. i stopped real quick and checked the gas cap which seemed to be on correctly. i made sure of that. turned back on the car, and the cel is still on. this just happened about 5 minutes ago so .. i'm probably gonna take it to autozone and have them test the code real quick. but wanted to first see if i could get any suggestions if anyone has experienced this same formula of events

any comments appreciated

thanks

Suggestion: Get the CEL code and post it up in this thread.

You could check the code yourself you know. Link for checking ECU codes

The radiator is there, you may have a leak. Have you noticed any coolant leaking?

im assumeing you have a leak either your radiator or your hoses, try to figure out where it is.. whenever there is a leak in the vaccumes, your car starts to act really funny, it also idles funny.. happend to me also. make sure you add some water to your radiator before you drive..

if its the OEM radiator it could be cracked inside or peices broke off into it. i had the plastic part where the hose connects to the radiator brake off and fall into the radiator. didnt have as much trouble as you seem to be having though. if you do have to get a new radiator i suggest a brass and copper one.

Stock radiators are notorious for having cracks on the top of the tank...it's plastic. It happened to mine. It didn't produce symptoms as bad as yours, but maybe your crack is worse...or there's a hole in your radiator.

Idle control system malfunction.

Possible causes:
IAC valve mechanical malfunction
Fast idle thermo valve malfunction (A/T)
Throttle body clogged port, improper adjustment
Intake manifold , gasket leakage
Intake air hose loose, leakage
Vacuum hoses leakage (already stated)
ECT sensor
Throttle position sensor incorret output

If you don't have an automatic eliminate the Fast idle thermo valve as a possible cause.

If it was all the way at H and smoking you may also have a blown head gasket, and the engine is never really the same even after fixing it.
