ECT sensor
Throttle position sensor incorret output

If you don't have an automatic eliminate the Fast idle thermo valve as a possible cause.

I was figuring it was a radiator problem because of where he noted steam in the engine bay. If air got into the system through a leak in the radiator, it could cause his funky idle.

well

it turns out i was compltetly out of coolant for some weird reason. i topped the radiator off with coolant and the car never got half way passed the center for the C/H meter after that.

it stopped idilng funny also. it only did it that one time. i disc. battery to rid the CEL off. it hasn't came back on and the car seems to be running fine. nothings been leaking under either. im gonna check the coolant every few days to make sure and if i get another CEL i'll probably take it in.

thanks for all the suggestions

Those "possible causes" I listed are for the CEL (P0505). I thought he had two separate problems, the cel and the radiator. But yes it sounds like he has the notorious radiator leak problem. Rather strange to me how he had a idleing problem, got the CEL and then the radiator gave him problems. That's some bad luck.

You may have killed your head gasket when you ran out of coolant which would cause your idling problem. The car will do that when you have a leaking head gasket. First get your radiator, or whatever the leak turns out to be fixed, and if your still having problems, get it pressure tested.
