Quick answer!!! rotors and callipers
Fronts or rears? I got brand new rear rotors for 13 dollars each and they work fawkin awesome!!! Somebody is getting screwed if they are paying 100 bucks to get a pair of rotors re-surfaced. The most I ever paid for a new front rotor was 35 each. The calipers would cost a lot of money, pads anywhere from 20-75 bucks depending on quality, and the labor shouldnt be more than 1-2 hours unless they gotta change a lot of stuff but it still shouldnt take a competent mechanic very long to do either front or rear brakes. If they gotta rebuild a caliper then theres another nightmare (if they are doing the rears) Well good luck and hopefully you know a good family mechanic that wont screw you over, those slimy shops make every good shop look bad too because every one is scared to take their car to a shop.
Do it yourself. You'll learn alot, maybe enjoy it. It's not hard.
Haynes manual = $15.00
Metric Wrenches = $19.00
Impact Driver = $15.00
4 Rotors resurfaced = $50 ish OR 4 new rotors = $120 ish
Front and back pads = $60 ish
Fluid = $5
Couple of hours, even for a newbie!
If you've got some tools already you'll come out way ahead.
Look at it as an investment. Every car you ever own from now on you'll be able to change the pads/rotors easily. BIG SAVINGS $$$$$$$
