Default help with removing alternator

I need to replace my alternator but it is really difficult to get to. Any advice on how to get it out or should I not even bother and just take my car to a shop?

it is tight back there, should be able to drop it out the bottom, might have to remove the axle. If your not up for the task, take it to a shop.

Ok, it looks like a total pain in the ass. How much can I expect to pay (parts and labor) if I take it to a shop? Just a rough estimate would be good. I mean, should I bring a tube of KY with me or what?
