Default getting crappy gas mileage

Hi

I recently got a "check engine light" on my car couple days ago, and I tried reading the codes and got 73 and 74.

I reset the ECU and the "CEL" was gone, but I noticed I was getting like 15mpg on the freeway!

My car has had no problems before and I even changed the plugs and wires at 62,000 miles.

It's a 1997 LS w/ 80,000 miles on it now.

I'm so scared to drive around now, cause of the gas prices and the feeling that I'm damaging my car from driving it around in such a crappy condition.

What should I do?

73 and 74 are cylinder misfires on cylinders #3 and #4. Pull the plugs on these and make sure they look good. Did you check to see if the plugs had the proper gap and if they were the right ones? You should probably just change all your plugs again.

:werd:

Throw in some new plugs and see if that helps. If not, do a minor tune up: fuel filter, distributor cap/rotor.
