Default weird electrical trouble

Ok, so I finally got my front turn signals all wired up. Had to solder some of the wires together since the sockets had been cut off. Anyhow, now when I was driving last night, I noticed my gauge cluster would sometimes get dim and then go back to being bright again intermittently. Also, I noticed that when I stopped at a light, my idle would go up from the normal 1000 rpm or so up to like 1600 rpm and stay there! What the heck is going on?

Could this be the result of poor grounding or what? Any ideas, anyone?

Ok so now things have gotten worse. I was on my way home from work at like 4:30 this morning and I was about a mile from my house when my gauges started getting even more dim. Then my cd player started shutting on and off. My headlights and everything got pretty dim but never shut off. When I got home, i let the car idle for a few minutes and started messing with my turn signal wiring. I recently wired up the turn signals because they had just been hanging wires before. Anyway, even though the car was still runing with the headlights on, I looked at my gauges again and they showed 0 rpm. My battery light was on by this point, so I shut the car off. When I tried to start it again, it was completely dead. Please help!

Sounds like you need a new battery and alternator. You should be able to get them tested for free @ a major auto parts chain (Auto Zone, Pep boys etc...), just to make sure.

Looks to be my alternator...I pulled the negative terminal while the car was running and it died immediately. The car still ran even with the lights and stuff on before that though, so I don't for sure. Any ideas on a good place to get a quality alternator? Acura wants like $330, and I think advance wants like $200...any other ideas?

Its $198 + $105 core charge but as soon as I get my old one off then I won't have to worry about the extra charge.
