Default Anyone ever notice a loss in power after installing an air bypass valve?

I had cut my intake during the rainy months here in so cal. to avoid injesting water. My intenetion was to re-install it come spring time w/an aem bypass valve. Well I did just that and it felt like I might have been sucking air from 2 locations, it just didn't feel accelerable, so I took it off and now I have a short ram. It pisses me off because I bought it for 39 bucks under the impression it would not affect performance, but to me it feels like it does. Anyone else?

I hated it. I sucked three of them into my throttle body! Even one after they added in that gay plastic ring to stop that from happening!

Hmm. Interesting.
The air bypass valves must not be closing fully. :dunno:
Has anyone ever vacuum tested a CAI with one of those valves? h:

BTW, I've always felt that CAIs were too big of a risk for the gain. h:

And an FYI to Integra owners: A good short ram will outperform a CAI on our cars, so there's no logical reason to get a CAI for our cars anyways.

why would that not be the same for civic owners as well? What makes the integra different for that?

It's B-series engines in general I believe, but it certainly helps that the integra is a very well cooled engine bay.

I wish I could find the link, but there was a place that tested every major commercial intake available in the US in both short ram and CAI configurations. The AEM SRI outperformed the AEM CAI on a B16 throught the entire dyno'd RPM range.

Now if only I could afford a short ram...I would get one from ebay but most of them have crazy high shipping fees and I don't trust sellers that crank up their shipping fees.

the junkyard will have many ebay SRI's, thats where mine came from, i just added a k&n filter.
but every one of my friends that has a CAI (WA rains alot) says that their CAI's were better without the air bypass (they all have it).

...for some reason i find the CAI whistle sound sekksai...

well the cai gains bottom end to mid range power, the sri is more for top end gain
if your running a b18b then the cai will feel better for you, then the b18c gains better with a sri
