It's an intake.. it's not complicated.. put a filter on it & call it a day.. if u don't like the way it looks.. replace with an ebay pipe!

performance wise don't expect number from an intake.. only thing your going to do is flow air SLIGHTLY better with the different filter!

at least nobody suggested the electric fan sold on ebay suppoidly capable of producing 4lbs of boost! OMG what idiots!

Comptech makes a real good intake setup. Their "icebox" design utilizes a bigger airbox and air horn that sucks up cold air behind the turn signal. I can vouch for them because I have one, but $300 is a steep price to pay for the whole setup IMO.

ok anything over $40 for intake is useless. cold air is useless, and screw the icebox. over like 30 mph the air is flowing fast enough through the engine compartment to the point that it really doesnt matter where the filter is, you will be getting the same temp air into the intake as you will outside of the engine. oh yeah the new aem v2 intake is a joke too.

So say I take off the cover to the stock air intake box. Is that safe and does it increase the power at all?

Also would it matter if I took off the heat sheild covering the exhaust manifold(I think? It has the dipstick sticking out of the middle.)

First off don't come on here talking like you know everything newb. Though your point about air flowing through the engine compartment is accurate, stating that cold air is useless and screw the icebox sounds pretty ignorant. I said it before and I'll say it again. Comptech makes a real good intake setup.
