Default ZC engine swap

Hey all, I'm thinking I'm going to be replacing the stock D16 in my 87 teg with a ZC. Anybody know if the tranny will mate up? If it doesn't, I may just gut the whole car and but in either a B16A or a B18A/B. Also, where are some good places (online) to get a tranny?

The tranny will bolt up. This is why I put a zc in my 89 a few yrs. ago. It was affordable, bolted up to the tranny and went into the stock mounts. That car is long gone now, but if you have any more ques. let me know, I was forever turning the wrenches on that car.

Hey thanks for the knowledge bud. I havn't started the swap yet, but will very soon. I guess right off the bat I need to make sure the manifolds will match up as well. Also are most of the aftermarket part for the D16 about the same as the ZC? ie.. intake, headers, probably nothing internal.....yet.

A lot of companies make aftermarket internals for te zc. I had jg rods, cams, pistons, throttle body in mine. I bought a weapon r intake, dc header (manifold swap right in) and had a custm exhaust. The only difference in the d16 and zc is the stroke and about 14hp. (130 over 116) It is Japans d16.

Also, I'm in Cali. Will the car still pass smog? I'm not sure what the regulations are.
