Default state ref ticket last night

i have a 99 gsr with greddy evo and other bolt ons. well as i was cruising a cop hits a U and pulls me over saying my exhaust is too loud..i go and tell him its 50 state legal and is under 95 db..he persists on giving me the ticket. a while later he says because of that he has probable cause of pop my hood which i do and he sees the FPR. he says any alteration without an EO# is illegal. well on the ticket he gets me for modified exhaust and state ref. he also notes on the back that the exhaust ticket only can be signed off by a state ref. so where do i go freom here? wait for the ticket? I know my only options are pay the big bail or put everything back to stock which will mess everything up..being that i have the bolt ons with skunk IM and such all tuned with fpr vafc and cam gears. everything will be out of tuned. my other question was at the state ref i believe they check your ecu to see if its usdm..well will they inspect the wires to see its been hacked by a vafc?

how much does it usually cost just to pay it off? since the ticket says state ref required to sign off the exhaust and im also docked to see state ref..can i jus make an appointment for them to jus sign off my exhaust and inspect that only and say im not ready for the full state ref inspection with smog yet? that way instead of the total cost id pay only the state ref bail without the exhaust ticket included?

i would go get the inspections done (if it is under 95db). then contest the ticket and advise that the officer stated he had cause to open you hood. since he had no cause to issue the exhaust ticket, he had no cause to open the hood. fight it. thats just me, cop caused you hassle....hassle him. take it court and supenia him and have him explain to the judge how he can tell what dp rating your muffler is. i am a jerk though.

I just wrapped up my referree problem early January 05. I had an illegal header and wounded up still paying a fine since emission violations is non-correctable. It was $341 to give you an idea. When you go to the referree, he/she is going to check every ****ing thing on your car. They won't dismantle anything and if it is aftermarket without a CARB EO Number, you WILL fail the inspection. They even look in odd places where things can be hidden (controllers and what not) they won't dismantle the ECU, but they will verify it is the one for your car. After the CARB EO number is recognized he/she will look it up in a manual and make sure it is a part for your car and not a cross reference, it fits replacement. You can pay the fine and continue to roll for now, but that doesn't fix anything. Your clear until your next violation, but when you get busted the fine will increase dramatically about 2 1/2 times. And you can pay it again, and then so on and so forth...The referree will look at the ticket and see what the cop cited you for. He is not going to get caught up in the mix, he is just there to make sure your car is CARB legal. What I would do in your case? Fight it. Go to court on your court date, post the bail, set a trial and prove to the court (documentation) that your exhaust is legal and the cop had no reason to pull you over, thus establishing un-justified probable cause. If you lose you pay the fine, and get your car referree certified. Sorry bro, it sucks, law enforcement is reaching into our pockets. It is revenue for the state. I'm tired of the ****ing cops who think they the god damn terminator and can measure DB to the point with their own 2 ears. My father n law (who is a cop in Arcadia) says cops like those aint gt nothing better to do and are suffering from lack of pussy. Good luck!!!

Contact GReddy and have them fax you a sound test report. They have proof there that their exhaust for the Integras is legal. I use my copy to ward off cops when I get pulled over for my Evo exhaust.
