Default Engine Designations location?

I just bought a 1996 GSR and the guy SAYS it has a JDM B18 in it but I want to make sure. Where is the stamp on the engine so that I can double check it?

Using the VIN number system in the FAQ should work if it's the stock engine.

Its not the stock engine. its a USDM GS-R with a JDM B18. I just wanted to know where I can find the engine code on the engine itself to confirm that it is indeed a JDM engine from a Type-R

Look down at the block where it meets the tranny. There will be a flat portion on the block with engravings in it. Should say B18C, and then have a serial number underneath.

it says B18C3 so its just from a JDM GS-R not a Type R...? ah well. is there any difference between the two?

is there any difference between an american B18 and a Jap B18?

I believe B18C3 is the European version...but I'm not positive.
