Default Difference between 89 and 90 integra?

Can anyone tell me if there is a difference between the 89 and the 90 Integra's when it comes to the suspension? Also, if I were to get a body mod kit for 90 Integra, can I make it fit an 89? Another thing, why are all parts for an 89 integra so much more expensive than a newer Integra or even a 90?

Everything is different, nothing is interchangable.

The 86-89's use a Mcpherson strut front suspension and a solid axle rear. 90+ cars use wishbone type independant suspensions.

90+ aftermarket parts are common and mass-produced, making them cheap. 86-89 stuff isn't popular, production is low, and the price reflects that. Parts from a junkyard is usually cheaper for the 86-89 cars though.

89 teg is related to the 88-91 civic si and CRX and 86-89 accords. by related I mean lots of the parts may be interchangable.

No, it's designed off the 84-87 Civic body. The 90-93 Integra is based on the 88-91 Civic.

The 86-89 Integra is not even close to the 86-89 Accord.

We've created an Integra FAQ thread that adresses this exact question.

Bodykits are designed to mount using a combination of adhesives and in many cases, they also use the same mounting points used by the stock body pieces. This makes it difficult to take a kit from one model and graft it onto another. So it's going to be difficult and expensive to make a '90-93 kit fit an '85-'89 car. It will look strange as well IMO.

*Our Appearance & Cosmetic forum handles these questions, while we focus on the performance, upgrade and maintenance topics.
(IMHO, very few bodykits are worth the investement).

Simple economics. When you're outside the mainstream, prices go up.
Plenty of people have modded up the 94-01 Integra, but few people have modded the 1st gen ('85 to '89) Integra.
This means fewer performance parts for the 1st Gen are sold. When fewer parts are sold, manufacturers raise the sale price so they can turn a profit with a smaller number of sales.

C'est la vie.

Wrong and wrong. The 88-91 Civic & CRX shared their suspension with the 1990-1993 Integra, not the 1985 to 89 model years. And the 86-89 Accord suspension has no interchangible parts with the Integra.

dam it was real late last night, i made big errors.

I had a 89 teg. I used 89 accord nuckles, disc's, calipers shocks and springs on my 89 teg.

I even used a heater and wiper motor from a 89 accord. the front bumer and bumper cover fit (though the integra's was different), and headlights (power unit) was identical. other than that i guess the parts arent interchangible

I didnt go into the nitty gritty, the integra had a PGM-fi while the accord was a carb. so i didnt use any of the engine parts. i know the mounts are in the same place so the engines could be swapped.

Through 86-89, the Accord was availible with a fuel injected A20A in LXi trim.

Since when was the A20A swappable into the 1G Integra? That would mean it could be placed in the 3G Civic (which shares the same mount points as the Integra,) so I'd seriously doubt it.

For the 89 and 90 suspension systems the difference is night and day. Take it from me. I had an 89 once and was on a quest to find someone who made a bushing kit. The lowest yr. was 90. At one point I was like will 90 fit an 89. The answer was always NO, but I'll sell it to you anyways, ofcourse...needless to say, I never located a bushing kit for the 89 Integra.

Um... You're wrong... The transmissions are identical. So, yes, with a set of custom mounts, you should be able to swap the A20 in, or the A18. Of course, they use a SOHC head, and a cast iron block. So you would get more torque, maybe a little more power, but it would be at the expense of weight. Cool idea though... I wish there was a DOHC head available for the A series engines...

The trans similarity only knocks out one mount. With a set of custom mounts, you can get anything small enough to fit. I just don't want others to be confused because this is not a direct swap.

That would have been nice, it probably would have kept me in the 3G Accord world. I have a thing for white Accord hatchbacks.
