black smoke when vtec hits?
my friend has a 2000 GSR, whenever he hits VTEC black smoke shoots out of the exhaust. im thinking he messed up something when he got his Apexi Vtec controller. anyone know why his motor does that?

Does the smoke have a bluish tint? If so, oil is getting into the combustion chamber.
Otherwise, it's may be fuel related. :dunno:

It's running rich. If oil is burning, it's a whitish/blue smoke...not black/blue.
