Default Maintenance questions (TB and WP)

Hi.

My 1999 Integra is closing in on 90k. I want to replace the timing belt and water pump soon. I just have a few questions. Aside from the timing belt and pump, what else should I have the shop replace when the car goes in? Should I do the other belts? Is it a good time to do a valve adjustment? How much should I expect to pay, including the OEM Honda parts?

Thanks.

More information.

The belts have never been replaced. My last valve adjustment was at 35k, and no it doesnt tick.

I'm not 100% sure but i'd say go with the timingbelt, waterpump, spark plugs, wires, cap, get your fluids flushed and filled, and your tranny fluid done...I might have forgot something though

Will! For a timing belt and water pump replacement, expect to pay 400+ at the dealer including labor. If your valves don't tick, I wouldn't bother with a valve adjustment. I agree with spoonfed on doing all the fluids, unless youve done them recently. Definitely do the accessory belts with the timing belt service. If you haven't done a cap/rotor minor tune up lately, might as well do one now. I don't know how much they'd charge for accessory belts, fluids, cap/rotor. h:

Since no one has mentioned it, replace the timing belt tensioner as well.
If it were to fail, and the timing belt goes slack, bad things will happen.

Well the small things like fluid flush, distro / cap...those I plan do all myself. The bigger things like valve adjustment, belts, water pump...I would NOT trust myself to doing.

Sorry for the late response. I kinda forgot I posted it h: THanks, you guys rock.

Timing Belt + Tensioner
Acc Belts
Water Pump
Distro Cap / Rotor
Plug wires / Plugs
Flush Radiator and Tranny fluids
Top all other fluids
_____

Should I go and replace the fuel filter?

I would definitely let the pros do the timing belt and water pump but a valve adjustment is easy to do yourself. I am sure there is a write up on a DIY for that one floating around here somewhere. Here you go: http://student.ucr.edu/~ohe02/valveadj.html

valve lash on a B18B1 is sooooo easy, a chimp with the feeler gauges could do it.

on a GSR its a little nerve-wracking.
