never get those blue-tinted bulbs. a friend of mine gave them to me for free so i installed them on my teg but they were definitely not as bright as regular bulbs and one of them burned out in 10 min. Plus some of those bulbs have higher wattage than OEM ones and draw more current, which could potentially damage your car's electrical wiring.

One step down from the silverstars are the "Cool Blue" headlight series from Sylvania. They throw about as much light as the Xtra Vision series, but are not as bright as the silverstars. I haven't had any problems w/ my silverstars blowing up. Are you sure you guys aren't touching the glass when you put them in? Do you have condensation in your headlight assemblys? I had a guy come back to Advance every week saying his silverstars kept blowing up and finally after like the 3rd exchange I told him I would put his in for him, here his headlight was duct taped to the car and there was a quart of water in his headlight assembly! I told him "This is your last pair from us pal, get your f'n headlight fixed"

There is nothing direly wrong with a standard 55w halogen bulb. In fact, if all you're doing is urban driving at night, the stock bulbs are perfectly adequate.

I had a pair of Sliverstars on my old GTi (using retrofit kits for the stock sealed-beam HLs). They worked well enough, but I expected more of an improvement for the premium price. :a:

Compared to the "upgraded" bulbs, you might as well save up and go w/ the HID in the long run.

My 2.3¥.

actually, if i get silverstar 9006 for my low beams, then does it defeat the purpose of getting 9005 for high beams? thanks again.
