Default Need Buying Advice Fast

Hey everybody. I'm a lifelong Honda owner about to buy my first Integra, and I need to decide between two cars, and I need to decide ASAP. I'm really torn about which way to do. Here are the choices (both are LS, 5-speed, private seller, clean titles, and check out clean by my mechanic):

'98, 72K - $7200

'01, 67K - $8800

Now, I don't think there were a lot of changes between '98 and '01, were there? I know the '01 has 15" wheels and a few more throw-ins, but mechanically these are more or less the same car, are they not? Obviously the '01 will have better resale value but I plan to keep both cars until at least 150-200K. Both have cloth interior, neither have had the timing belt done yet, and both are basically spotless, bar a few fender scratches.

So - which is the better buy? Money is a factor for me, but I just want to make sure I'm not missing out on anything really crucial with the '98. I think both of these are below KBB, so I should get a decent deal either way, but this is a major purchase and I want to get it right...

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Dan

If money is an issue like you said, buy the cheaper '98. The mileage is so similar that it won't really matter. They are essentially the same car. Is there service records for either car? That would be the buying point for me since 4 months after buying my car, it needed over $1500 worth of work done to it. Good luck though since both of those cars sound like a good deal.

Something to consider... in 2000 an immobilizer chip thingy was added to the key. Any list of Most Stolen cars in the US will include 94-99 Integras, the 00-01 Integras do not make those lists.

Just something to think about...

00-01 have lower insurance premiums (WELL IN MY AREA). if you plan on haning onto it for a bit, the 1600 you pay extra will come back in insurance premiums. plus resale will be better on the new one. as for all else make sure they are both equil in terms of service history, abuse/neglect, accedent history.

both are great, the newer one will be better!

If you are financing the car then your car note wont be that much more if you spend the extra 1600 for the newer one. but for me its a toss up you cant go wrong with either good luck with your decision.
