Default Vtec Problems

I recently started hearing a weird noise when my Vtec is "suppose" to engage. I disconnected my Vtec harness that connects to the solenoid and the harness to the pressure switch and the noise stopped. I got a new pressure switch and reconnected the harnesses but the noise is still there. It sounds like a rattling noise from the engine and you can hear the exhaust popping like when your plugs are going bad. A GSR without Vtec isn't much fun. Need help!

Does the vtec pulsate(engage and disengage) after the engagment point? Or basically a lack of power? Did you replace just the pressure switch or the whole solenoid. The whole solenoid has 3 bolt that hold it to the block and has a screen to trap debree. I had problems with mine and the vtec would not engage at all so i replaced the whole solenoid(which is fairly easy so don't go to the dealer) and everything works fine now.

It feels like it pulsates. I replaced just the pressure switch and i also went a ahead and replaced the Vtec gasket with the screen. One thing i forgot to mention was that the problems started right after I installed the cam seal on the Vtec side. The one that is known for leaking. I replaced it with an AZ cam seal. I don't know if that cam seal would have anything to do with it.

Try adjusting your valves and see if that helps. It could be your lost motion assemblies going bad though.

did a valve adjustment today but probelm is still there..the noise sounds like its coming from the bottom of the engine..could it be a clogged cat?..because after the car heats up for awhile, it doesn't make the noise...hmmm

If it only happens while cold, dont worry about it. Make sure you have enough oil, and it's clean.
