i thought that bhp stood for "brake horspower" as measured on a brake dynanometer

Are you aware of any tuning history? Is it outfitted in any way unusual? You said you couldn't see anything unusual in the motor, but what about the rest of the car? Is there any sign that it might have been used at some time for anything other than normal road use?
It's also entirely possible that the dynomometer was calibrated incorrectly.
well its a jdm integra impoprted from tokyo,its a 96 its black and from inside there are visible signs that it had extra clocks/dials/guages fitted at some stage also i dont believe the dyno was incorrect as the place he went to is usually very accurate!! it has fully adjustable suspension with rays lightweight rims.Also the lad brought it to a vtec tuning shop(japanese) and they were real impressed and said this car was raced in japan!! Also from this link jdm R seems slightly more powerfull than others so maybe this is partly the reason!!

BHP = brake horse power

Thanks or the input so looks like a bit of work went on internally

Also a jdm integra is said to have 197bhp as standard so this one has extra 12 from somewhere within??

If you tell me what number it is I might be able to tell you whose it was.

Also, photographs might be helpful.

Here is the pics of daves car.
notice the role cage/abs/clocks/guages were removed.
Click to enlarge

WE searched all around the handbrake housing for the itr number and even took it off as you can see.

So this and the white one im buyin has no numbers??

So obviously jdm integra differs

Can you find out any info from the plate number?

yep, 197bhp at the flywheel, not wheels.
so you are saying your mates Type R has 209bhp AT the flywheel?
