Is this Strut bar worth it?

First......there has been no major evidence backing up that a front strut bar improves handling. Second of all.....Any solid bar that goes across will be as effective as any other brand. 3 point will not make much difference other than it being a selling point. Go on ebay and get a front and rear bar for like 40 bucks. Its solid and shiny. Don't buy it just cause its different. Its a freakin strut bar. Hell....get a welder to add the third point on for you. cheaper than 160 bucks!!

That "piece of crap" could withstand almost any suspension requirement a GS-R could handle. The only reason to really upgrade beyond the stock strut bar, IMO, is if you're moving to a new strut bar design, like Neuspeed's or a standard triangulated bar. It's an excellent and elegantly simple piece of hardware that works really well for what it's needed to do.

The OEM strut bar itself is solid however the ends of it are thin and held on my two small bolt. Not only that, but it is not even connected to the top of the strut itself. A strut brace is "designed to tie the two opposing strut towers together as a single solid unit" to prevent flex. Have you felt the weight of the stock bar. Very light compared to any aftermarket.
Neuspeed make bars that are primarily for cosmetic use. Hense the reason it comes in red and blue. These bars are not solid and are not as effective.
The type r is one of the best handling cars not because of a strut bar but because of the chassis and the spring shock setup. The integra over all is one of the highest potental cars for handling.
Ebay doesn't make parts. They are sold by other members in the form of an auction. So somebody selling a low mileage type r crate from japan at ebay that has over a 1000 feedback for $1500. You are telling me that its crap and that you would not be interested. Or even a DC sports 4-to-1 header
for $150. Yeah right. Yes you have to be selective but its not all crap. Just have to be carefull.
In conclusion
A solid bar is a solid bar. Any thin spots or crap welds can compromise the rigity. Brand really doesnt matter too much as long as it is solid. Many of the top brands for strut bars are sold on ebay. Are those crap too. I do understand that alot of crap is sold on ebay. I would never buy exhaust or intake or noname suspension from ebay when technology is involved. But why pay 200 bucks for a strut bar when most popular brands are not even solid. How much technology goes into a steel bar. It costs more to bore holes in a bar, have the name engraved or embossed on it, and then anodized in your favorite color. A solid peice of steel with welds and mounting rings is cheaper to make and a better choice. So whether ebay or not, don't waste ur money on cosmetics.

I hate to get into pointless arguments, but to point out some important facts:
Weight is not the determining factor of something's rigidity. Design is. Many of those aftermarket strut bars that you find being sold on ebay are many from a solid piece of billet aluminum, or often even worse, a hollow piece. The OEM strut bar is a tube of steel. Cylinders also have the highest lateral crush rigidity of any shape. And the mounts are more than sufficient. Have you ever seen an integra with the stock strut sheared off by any accidental means? To my knowledge, EVERY SINGLE OTHER strut bar except for the Neuspeeds use the exact same "two small bolt[s]", and often many no-name aftermarket bars use the most minimal mounting imaginable.
Proof that you are pulling facts out of your ass :closed:

:sigh: guess i'll have to put in my 2cents.
the neuspeed bar is not for looks and has more functionality than the OEM strut bar. the Neuspeed 4-pt bar attaches to the upper control arm bolts which receive the MOST force of any suspension component in a turn. thus, this force is exerted against the towers AT those bolts. the neuspeed bar keeps the force distributed between the towers so there is barely any chassis flex.
the end.
