Default Daytime Driving LIghts

Does anyone have a diagram handy on how to wire up car to have the lights on whenever my car is running?

when ur car is running u want day time running lights?

There is a Red w/ white stripe (Headlight Wire) in ur steering column about 12awg, make a jump from that wire to the black w/ yellow stripe wire (Ignition Wire) which is in the ignition harness, 12v when key is in on position, id suggest blue scotch locks or blue T-Taps to make the jump. I would suggest getting a Diode from radioshack that will allow 12v to travel only one way threw the wire. so i cant come back the opposite way (Basically if u turned the lights on when car is off, the ignition would turn on unless you had the diode in place part is prolly 99cents at radio shack.)

I would also suggest testing the wires with a multi-meter, or at the very least a test light, Do not cut airbag wires in the yellow splitloom.

ya, test light and air bags don't match so i would not even use a test light. you might also want to put a fuse on that wire incase of anything. i don't know off the top of my head but a large fuse(15 amp to a 30 amp) would do.

for headlights, its a switched relay prolly uses less then 1 amp, and you wont have any problem with airbag wires unless you go into the yellow splitloom, which is not needed, all wires are in the black rubber taped harnesses...just cut them open gently with a blade and you'll have all the wires you need. you may have to go to the plugs to the left of the wheel but you will find it. Fosho!

If memory serves, the Canadian market requires DRLs. So I'd look for CDM wiring diagrams for your model year and copy those changes to your headlight wiring.

Also, most factory DRLs use a resistor to lower the wattage at which the high-beams run. I'd strongly recommend following their lead. I can guarantee you'll have a lot of people pissed off if you're right behind them with your high beams on at full wattage.

Them thangs are death rays, boy! :eek3:

Red/white wire is not high beams, This is exactly how they are wired, directly into the ignition wire prolly using a relay insted of a diode, u can do either it doesnt matter much, High beams are separate switch. No worrys.

oh ya bro. my stupid a*S was thinking he was going to wire it directly to the lights. good looking! (talking about the fuse amperage)

Usually, factory DRLs use the high-beam lamps.
I assumed that the OP would as well. Hence my suggestion of using a resistor. h:

so when u turned ur lights on all four would be on.. u need to use relays and rewire the swich, resistor will not lower voltage, it will lower ohms, you would need a transformer to lower volts. doesnt matter if u have 12v 1ohm or 12v 20,000ohms.... the way i suggest is the best.. if not i will write you up a wire schematic for using relays.
