I use to use the recommend 10w-30, but with my car being seven almost eight years old next month, it started leaking and no one was able to find the source. Since then, I was told to use Valvoline 20w-50 since it is a lot thicker. It works great and doesn't leak as much at all.
The leak appears to be comming from the oil pan, or above the oil pan, its not alot of oil, but i clean the pan off completely, and next oil change it has oil residue all over, (dirt and oil, usually not enough to drip though) so im not really LOSING oil, but i'd like to fix this problem. pls help thanks
I'd retighten the oil pan bolts & nuts to spec, as per the factory shop manual.
See if that helps..otherwise, a new oilpan gasket is probably the best long-term fix. h:
