LoL dam!! thats ridiculous... don't do it at the STEALER... With that price you can have a ACT clutch w/ extreme pressure plate and 8 lbs clutch master flywheel installed.

Actually for a decent shop to do the clutch install using a real OEM clutch it probably will cost around 800 unless you know someone.

And im talking about a GOOD clutch job. Not some half assed job where the pedal is vauge and the engage point is all the way at the top. If you don't go after market (which I would seriously look at depending on your goals if you have any for your car) a OEM clutch costs around 250-300 bucks. So watch out for cheap shops because the parts they use SUCK

So they get the clutch in and it just pops out of third gear. Perhaps I distroyed third gear when I drove home without first and second.

I did some searching on the web and found a used tranny (40K miles) at http://www.ezfindparts.com/ for $866.

A good deal, but I still have to drive a cr@ppy rental for another week.

godamn 800 bucks?!?! thats crazy expensive....I think I paid 100 bucks for a Nissan tranny with 60k on.....Hope I never have to get bent over for H/A specific parts...christ...

So lets get this straight, you can drive in 1st...2nd, not 3rd, but 4th and 5th work just fine? They work...PERFECTLY? but just not 3rd? Does 3rd even go into gear? Does it go into gear with the car off? I can't see (well I can but Im being realistic here) how you could destroy 3rd gear just driving home one day.

No. Worse. EZfindParts.com called to say, b/c of high demand it will by $1150. F&ck, they could have at least used KYjelly first!

I don't know exactly what the symptoms are b/c the dealership has it.

How much do you think I can get for a GSR with a blown tranny?

The rental is ~$13 / day and I hate it. That would quickly eat up any savings. I just want my baby back!
