Sorry pal but the tach isn't really that accurate. It can vary by as much as 500 RPM. How do you know if your guages are accurate? Have you checked your speedometer reading against something like a GPS or a G-tech? Not to say that either is perfect but they're both useful for calibration purposes.

Mike, why would the RPM guague be off by so much. I would think the speedo has higher room for error. The RPM guague is always dealing with a known set of numbers, no one is going to swap out different engine components enough that that guage should be inaccurate. Whats causes it to be off by as much as 500?

Before I went LS/VTEC I could only get up to about 125 in redline of 5th gear. I can go 140 safely now.

Hit 145 with I/H/E and a new set of Toyo T1S. Too scared to try it again.

rpm tachs are usually off by about 500 rpms cause it runs off a wire by the ecu. it's not wired right to the distributor. that's why after market tachs are more accurate.

damn now I feel left out...the most I've ever taken my LS to was 105.........and in all honesty, I'm too scared to go any higher than that.......At those speeds, all I see are images in my head of a tire popping or brakes failing.............

It's happened to my dad before, so I guess I've sort of been traumatized by that
