Default Shifter Problems

i have a 93 integra and i have problems with the shifter. the person that had it before me put in a short shifter from ebay or something cheap and now there are no stops. know what i mean in first gear i can move it all over side to side.

could it be the shifter?????

i checked the bushing and its tight no movement there.

or could i have bigger problems???

anyone else had this problem or have any ideas for me.

thanks for the help

Those integras are famous for that problem. That sounds like

Check your shift linkage where it connects to the tranny. It's probably slipping and has a little slop on the rod that goes into the tranny. My shifter moves slightly like the way you described, and there is a little play in my shift linkage.

Make sure it has the proper spacers and that right size bolt. The slightest off set can give you that play.

ok guys thanks to your help i got it fixed. centerforce99 u the man. thats was the problem. the crack head that owned it before me must have lost the right bolt that went in there so he just put any bolt in there. it was like 1/4inch and it needed to be like a little bigger the 8mm. either way its fixed thanks guys.

on to the next problem..............

i'm out

Sorry I did not get back to you sooner so you knew what you were looking for but it looks like you found it. That bolt means a lot down there at the shifter base. I lost mine once while on the road and all of a sudden had no gears, I had to put "any" bolt in there to get home and shifting was way ****ed up. I had to push it way over and up to get into 5th, aw man it sucked. It sat for a week while I waited for my order of that specific nut & bolt to come in. Alright then, peace...
