i have a 98 gsr which it quick for the little money i have spent so far. My goal is to have a turbo installed by 50,000 miles(41 or so on it now). i have seen a turbo kit on ebay by a company called ss show chrome or something, with a t3/t4 turbo, down pipe, manifold and wastgate for around 650 bills. does any one have any experiance with this. any tips will be great!!!

 

Oh, yes, SS autochrome. They are supposedly an alternate name for OBX.

Anyway, in the RX-7 crowd, their turbo manifolds are notorious for cracking after only a couple thousand miles. Beware of cheap products.

 

Don't buy a turbo off ebay. I did but it was a Greddy kit and I knew the seller pretty well because we had done several previous transactions.

 

The OBX turbo kits are made by Greddy, and are just re-badged.

Sorry dont know anything about the SS kit, but if its that cheap then I bet the kit and turbo are cheap too.

 

Who makes the manifolds? They sell them with stainless manifolds, and as far as I know Greddy kits don't come with stainless manifolds for hondas.

 

Greddy doesnt make their turbos either, greddy is a rebadged Garrette turbo ( who is the mother of all turbos, oh Mitsubishi makes turbos too)

 

I think IHI and Garret are neck and neck...IMO anyways.

 

IHI makes great turbos, but they just don't have the popularity that Garrett has. It's a shame.

 

I completely agree...they make really good stuff.
