Default No power! Is belt changing really that hard?

Driving around and the alternator belt gave up on me.

How hard is this to change? It's small down there, do I need
any special tools?

how long does it take to change aproximately?

thanks,
Heffa.

I changed mine in about an hour, taking my time in the sweltering heat. You have to remove the PS belt first, then unbolt the whole PS pump. Also unbolt the bracket that holds the PS hose to the timing belt cover. Slide the reservoir up out of its bracket, and you can kinda move everything out of the way. I also unbolted my cruise control actuator and moved it up out of the way. Then you have to loosen the tensioner pulley on the A/C belt, slip it off, and let it hang on the engine mount. Then loosen the alternator mounting bolts, swing the alternator forward, and slip the belt off. Once you get the new belt on, you will need a large prybar or crowbar to push the alternator back and put tension on the belt while you tighten the bolts. Then put everything back together.
