Default Autocrossin' Geesers

I know alot of guys on here AutoX but my question is what are the best cars for autocrossing? I know that its almost all driver skill but the car is whats being driven. So whats are some of the best and where does a gsr/itr place in there? Im trying to decide if i wanna keep my gsr around to build up for race/autox or sell it to keep payments on another car lower....

You have the right idea when you say driving skill is mort important.

I say keep your GSR stock, learn how to drive so you are competitive.. then worry about building it up or replacing it.

keep the GSR if it suits you. The ITR is in a different auto x class. When you start winning your class with your GSR then I would look for a different car or harder class if I really wanted to be more competitive.

Even now I still see guys in weak ass cars tottaly killing me on the auto cross field. Its embarassing but I dont care, its all for fun.

as of 2002, the ITR is H-stock, just like the integra GSR and LS!!!! Honda's are pretty good w/ their light weight and double wishbone, the only difficulty is keeping the car in the high revving power-band. If you eventually want a auto-x only car, the most dominating cars in so cal has been the miata or the camero ss.... either way learn to drive first!!!

In the DSP class as i'm sad to say gets killed. Going head-to-head with the 325i, 330i and Imprezza RS. Get the 2.5 RS and you will win the class everytime. I'm sorry but the car you have makes a huge difference. Think about this... Is it easier to drift in front wheel or rear wheel?? Most of the time the Honda's / Tegs push like its their job. If you go with the TEG stiffen the hell out of your rear end and do the opposite to the front end. You want the ass of the car to come around to aviod the horrible push the front wheel drive gives ya.

The STS and STX classes are for people who don't know how to drive.

An older Miata is a great first car to start auto-xing with. Good power, lightweight, and RWD. There is nothing wrong with a teg, in fact, a teg would be my first choice for a front wheel drive car to auto-x in if you are going to run the stock motor. When you are winning or placing in the top few places in your local AND regional races, start looking at modding your car. You can always get a different car, but you have gotten used to the way that one handles. Local stuff is good, but there will always be someone out there on the regional level who's gonna be better. Keep your teg stock and learn how to drive it. Get yourself a set of Azenis and go to town. I promise you can't go wrong with those tires for auto-x...sticky, cheap, and track proven. Other than that, fix the nut behind the wheel before you ever touch the car.

I suggest sticking with that. Integras are good for autox, though if you want to take it a step further and really get into it. I would get an old Corrola GTS RWD or a older Miatia both are light and rwd, they are also small.
