Default Integra Problem

Hello All,

My 86 Integra 1.4, 3 door will crank but won't start.

I am pullling out my hair on this problem.

The last time it started I drove it for about 100 feet it stopped running. I tryed to start again but it only sputtered and wanted to start but just won't catch. I let rest for a few hours but when I went to start it, the engine would crank normnally but won't even try to start.

FYI, The distributor is only 3 months old and new wires, the timing belt 5 months old, check out ok.

This is want I have tryed so far. I going by my Hayes manual since I have misplaced my original Acura Technical manual(does any one know where I might find one?)

I pulled one spark plug(it was wet with fuel) with wire connected tested - no spark.

I checked the coil and the ohm's checked out OK! I checked the for spark out of coil wire from distributor cap and there is spark.

I hear that the radio condenser if faulty can prevent start, has any hear of this? I going to see what a new would cost.

Any ideas would be appreciated, since I would have to tow it a 50 miles to nearest import mechanic.

Molly

If you get spark from the coil, then your trouble seems to be 'downstream' from there. So check distributor cap, rotor, & plug wires.

(BTW, when you used a spark plug to check spark, you had it grounded, right??)

Check the resistance from one end of each plug wire to the other. Make sure it is in spec listed in your Haynes. Mine says that it should be below 25 k-Ohm for each wire.

If that checks out, try a new cap and rotor.
