Default Newbie to the whole MODDING scene

Hey guys,

I have a 1999 Integra GS Sedan... and as of recent I've decided that I want exterior mods to make the car look more sporty...

I have one curious question in particular... it's regarding the side gauges like these guys here http://store.modacar.com/products/Ac...tegra/MODAMET/

Are any of them applicable to a stock car? I would love the sportier look... what do the certain parts of the gauge do? Some have this thing that looks like a sniper scope zoom etc.

Which would you guys recommend if I do not have any engine mods YET... but would like a gauge--thanks

I wouldn't recommend any of them. There is no need for any of those on a stock car.

The thing that looks like a scope is a shift light. Once again, not needed for a stock car, especially considering the Integra already has a stock tachometer.

Buy a turbo kit, then you'll have reason to get a boost gauge, oil pressure gauge, oil temp gauge, and/or a water temp gauge.

Thanks for the reply Kai! I was just curious cuz they do look very cool and sport, but yes, it is an automatic car and it would be solely for an aesthetic purpose... If there was one though that would work with a stock car which would it be?

And if there isn't one, I"m just going to drop the whole subject =)

Thanks a lot for the help =D

They all will physically work with the car except for the boost only gauges, but you'll get a lot of weird looks if you install any (esp. a tach with a shift light) in an unmodified automatic car.

As it is right now, I run two gauges on my moderately modified car: a water temp gauge and an oil pressure gauge. The water temperature gauge is because FC RX-7's tend to only see three temperatures: Cold, normal, and blown engine. My water temp gauge has saved me before (it read 260*F when my stocker only read 3/4, that was thanks to a bad fan wire.) The oil pressure gauge is because rotaries are very oil pressure sensitive, and my stock gauge crapped out. In short, if you have an aftermarket gauge, you better have a good reason to have it or guys really into auto modification will look down on you.

Don't do any stupid shit like that. Unless you're on the track drag racing you don't need all those goofy ass pods. What's wrong with leaving a car stock these days? It seems like all people want to do is add a bunch of shit that may be cool now but will porbably be a major thorn in your side when it comes time to sell the beast.

If you're just going for aesthetic... just change the gauge face or get one of those CD player with LCD screen... I think those would work better for an unmodified car. A stock integra interior looks really great as it is.

you dont need gauges yet, and probably wont ever with the automatic... sorry. but you can get a nice lip kit, springs or coilovers, some good struts, and a nice set of 16" wheels and your car will look sweet. you could even tint your windows. but before asking any questions about which is the best to get, use the SEARCH button at the top. everything i just mentioned above has been covered numerous times so you should be able to find most of the information you need. If you still have a question to ask after researching, feel free to ask it. sorry for the long response
