Oh yeah, and to respond to Kai... if he was looking for RX-7s, I'd suggest getting a 3rd gen with a blown motor or no motor at all and doing an LS1 swap. He'd come in WAY under $15k and have something different, reliable, and would be in the 11s with a stock motor. Just my .02

Start (money left) means you start with $16K. The money left after the investment in the previously mentioned bunch is in the parenthesis. In other words,

89-91 RX-7 Turbo II. $5k
Rebuild, street port $2k
Intake, exhaust, FCD, EMS, MSD, tuning $3k
T04 manifold and turbo $2k
Plenty of other supporting mods $?

That is only ~$12K invested with a $4K freedom to build the suspension, upkeep, new wheels, tires, or whatever he wants.

That's really optimistic. I can't think of any way a stock smallblock will get any FD into the 11's, stock engine.

Besides, any RX with a Chevy engine is a bastard car. True RX enthusiasts will not even acknowledge it's presence. Hell, it can't even handle with that whale of an engine up front.

Thanks again. Im still in the process of figuring out how Im going to go about financing this goal. I will probably only finance the JDM front, and like said leave the rest over time.

Again, I'm not looking for an old car thanks.

I'll keep joOs updated

15k to spend?

I would buy an earlier Integra Type-R. That would keep me satisfied until the end of time...

Well, at least until the Civic Type-R is released to the USDM

*cough* never *cough*

If you were to leave the Honda camp... M3's are excellent cars, perhaps a DSM, WRX's can be found for about 15k as well.

I would rather spend more initialy on a car that is great performer straight from the factory, can always upgrade later once you learn the limits of your car as well as your own limits when driving that car.

Okay, my last post on this topic cause I don't wanna steal this guy's thread... although he might be interested in this anyway ...but maybe you should do some reading before you post. 50/50 weight distribution &...

Testing at Alabama International Dragway. (11.9 @ 119mph)
Best pass to date is an 11.4 @ 120mph. The car had a full interior and a 1/2 tank of gas.
Est weight: 2,855lbs w/o driver
Est HP: 350rwhp

Of course, its not a teg... but he said any car... and you said RX-7... so that was just my .02 regarding an FD.

Well, I guess a good question is, what are you going to be using the car for? WIll it be a daily driver with occasional weekend auto-x in mind? Or will it be Daily driver and occasional drag weekend?

Need to define what you are to do with the car. Before dishing out 15k for something you may not need.

edit: unless you already mentioned what you're using it for, I just didn't see it...

I see now that the LS1 is an aluminum block engine, big difference. Try dumping in any of the older iron block engines and it won't work out quite the same.

Besides, you're also talking to an N/A FC guy. Even an all aluminum smallblock throws them off.

I would like to think daily driver with occasional auto-x, but it could go wither way. Im not too into drag racing, but I do want a car thats pretty quick in a straight line too.
