Default Rear hatch struts??

I have a 94 integra with a wings west wing. The wing makes the hatch to heavy for the stock struts to hold it up. Are there strongrer struts that I can buy to hold the hatch up?? Please help!

Try getting one made for a GSR or ITR. I'm assuming that you have an LS, since they have weaker hatch stays. You can get OEM ones from the dealer for about $50/ea. You can also find aftermarket ones at Autozone or Pep Boys.

:bs:

the struts are same for all trim .... and think about it, LS sometimes have factory spoilers, too so the struts can handle it.

dave, your car is 10 years old, im sure the problem is just old struts, they start to lose their firmness as they get older. id say just replace them with some new ones, you will be just fine.

Take off the barbeque and put a spoiler on instead. Much classier.

That is not true. It is a different strut with a spoiler. I have a friend who got the spoiler installed on his sedan when it was new, and it would not stay up. It was different one he installed, could have been from a different Honda, but I don't think so.

come to think of it, neither does mine. I know he had a problem though, maybe there is a spring on the sedan or something, I never really looked because I have no interest in a spoiler.

Sedans don't have struts because they don't have hatches, they have trunks.

the part numbers do not match, so there probably is indeed a difference between the hatch struts on the LS vs. GS-R/Type R.

regardless, if the wing is that heavy, you should probably just remove it.
