Konali: The word is "stalker."

This info was released almost a month ago. Ya'll's hoodlocks and clubs or whatever won't do shit. The best ways to protect an Integra are relocating the hood release cable and placing a fuel cutoff switch in. From factory the hood cable runs inside the fenderwell, which means a thief can rip the lining out, snip the line and pull the cable and your hood is up and your alarm and everything else is useless.

A club won't do anything because they can a) take off your steering wheel or b) pull it off because honestly, that thing does nothing. A fuel cutoff switch that is cleverly hidden in your car will keep the thief from hotwiring your car or using a key if he has one since no fuel = no start. With these two security DIYs, the thief will have to risk the alarm going off for a few seconds before he can clip the wires under your hood and will then have to have a tow truck to move your car.

These two things take 90 mins about to do and will cost your $5.00 max. The key to security is not intimidation. By showing him what you've got like a club or "This car protected by xxxxx alarm" you're telling him what strategies he needs to take. It's hidden, clever and multiple layers of security. The more snags he runs into, the less likely he will continue trying to steal your car and will just go for CDs and money (which you should keep hidden). If ya'll have questions on the hood cable relocation or fuel cutoff switch, it's an article on team-integra.net or pm me.

I would think that it dropped off also for 00-01, because less were made? particularly GSRs....

Its a rate not the number stolen...the amount that were made has no impact on the rate of theft.

What this means is that in the 00-01 years, Acura implemented a chip into your key. This explains why our keys can't simply be copied at a key shop or whatever and why they're thicker than other keys. The chip inside provides a signal to something in your steering column that disables the immobilizer. Without the chip, your car won't start. I'm not sure if it won't allow you to turn your key or if it just cuts off fuel or power to the engine since I've never tried it with a chipless key.

Damn, I have a '98 GSRThe deal that hooks onto the brake pedal or a kill/fuel cutoff switch will slow them down. IF they want your car, they will take it, period

Sweet. I'm pretty anal about proper grammar as well. I was actually angry at myself for making that mistake. :slap:

I'm actually surprised anyone caught that on this site.

They'll just flatbed it and run... if they're good, your alarm may never go off

Exactly, you just discourage the amateurs with alarms and clubs
