Default Intake systems

Hay... I have a 92 LS integra. I had the engine rebuilt at 160~K miles. Would exhuast/intake/headers be good mods? or would something else/more be better? thanks. btw If I bought a cool air intake system would I have to adjust during the winter/rainy season? What the difference between short ram intake and cool air?

search. go to www.g2ic.com and search. go to team-integra.net and search. these questions have been answered a million times. there's one in this Integra forum on HAN that is titled "short ram or cold air".

intake/header (not headers)/catalytic converter/exhaust is the base on any modded car. you cant supercharge or turbocharge or do anything more complicated to a car without i/h/c/e. i implore you to go to team-integra.net and read everything there before you go and rice out your integra, with LED windshield sprayers, underbody neons, a park bench on the trunk, and a 4in coffee can.

you are obviously a noob at cars so sit tight, dont post things like this until youve learned more about your car.

The turbo, manifold and downpipe would replace a header. A Supercharger may screw with the alignment of the intake piping.

yea my bad. sorry. forgot about what the turbo would replace. superchargers usually use a 3" short ram intake pipe. however, my point was nefar!ous should do the basics so he knows about his car and how it works before he can even think about FI or all-motor.

Who said i wanted to rice out anythinG? Im not into the 5ft whale tails and the altezza lights. More into the plain look. Its black on black rims w/very mild body kit. That wingy shit is stupid. I know that my car has a B18a, and I know that at 5,252 rpm hp is higher than torque, not a complete nub. Just was'nt to sure on what to do. BTW does anyone play cs?

At 5252 RPM horsepower and torque are equal, before correction.

Hey Nefar!ous, I didn't mean to be an asshole. It just happens that way sometimes when I talk to noobs. In any case, waht I said still stands. Go i/h/c/e and while doing that you'll learn about your car. Then figure out what you want to do.

The way I view it, on a scale of worst to best:

Old (original) cat converter
new cat converter
gutted cat converter
midpipe/test pipe

It depends on how much of a liberal tree f*cking hippie you are... *cough*... but the best for performance is absolutely no cat converter at all. It chokes the exhaust.

Yea Kai, that's the way it works. I'm not a hippie (heh) but I think you should get a high-flow catalytic convertor like a Carsound or Catco just so you don't have to get back under to change your cat for inspection. Carsound has been shown to be the best flowing cat.

Also the size of the cat will depend on the diameter of the piping on your header and your exhaust, remember that. You always want to get bigger as you go out, you dont want to create bottlenecks.
