Camber/Suspension Question
My setup on my 96 GS-R consists of Comptech Springs and AGX shocks. When I took it for an alignment, the front camber was at -1.2 on one side and -2 on the other.
Assuming cost is not an issue, would the best choice be to replace the upper control arms with the Skunk2 control arms that allow camber adjustment?
Also, if I do that, what custom settings would you recommend for the camber, caster, and toe... or would it be better to stay with stock numbers? I want to find a medium between performance and tire wear.
Thanks.

I definitely want to have some negative camber for performance... I just want to make sure I'm not going through tires every 3-4 months.
But anyway, is the Skunk2 control arms the best options?

With those camber numbers you really don't need a kit. Remember toe is more responsible for eating tires than camber is. I have similar camber #'s on my car and I don't have a kit. Just rotate your tires frequently and you'll be fine.

I would go with an SPC camber kit before a S2 one. The A-arms have been known to rub on the inner fenderwell, and the hardware craps out if you drive hard. Most people with the skunk2 kit have to upgrade all the bolts and whatnot just to get it not to slip during HPDEs. But they also hold up just fine for some. I've never heard of anyone having a problem with the SPC balljoints though.
As for allignment, I personally find -2.5 front, -1.5 rear camber to be a good combination for autocross... zero toe all around. If you autocross a lot, the tires will actually wear pretty evenly with this setting... Do too much highway driving, and you'll have some camber wear though.

I bought the Skunk2 camber kit and can see what you mean about replacing the bolts. I want to replace the four allen bolts that hold the ball joint... does anyone know the exact size, thread pitch, etc? I want to see if I can get some ARP bolts for it.
