Default Which engine is likely to last longer - VTEC or Normal

Looking at buying a 97 LS with 100K miles on it. Not looking for performance, but longevity. Will a VTEC engine last longer than a Normal engine?

Thanks guys,

Rocky

VTEC does not cause any increased wear or less reliability.

The way you drive, however, does. So if you rev to 8k daily, then chances are your longevity will reflect that. VTEC or no VTEC.

Exactly...VTEC will cause no more wear on your engine, it does however, in reality make there more possible parts to fail and go wrong, BUT in actual real world terms i dont think that VTEC parts fail that often so i wouldnt even consider that.

But VTEC engines do rev higher and you will be temped to, even if it is only in those 'emergency' lane changes
