Default reduce stiff ride!

okay, i am really getting annoyed with the stiffness of my car's ride. i bounce around like loose change, i dropped it 2 inches on stock shocks, so now its time to get aftermarket shocks. first of all, will this reduce the bounce, and what brand of shocks are good quality but cheap in price?

KYB AGX, tokico illumina, koni yellows are the most popular ones with adjustable dampers.

i think KYB AGX is the cheapest in the group.

It sounds to me like your stock shocks have blown. Are any of them leaking?

In addition to the Koni Yellows & KYB AGXs that others have mentioned, Neuspeed had a modified KONI product for sale that MFB was impressed with... I think it was the SP2 series[?] h: IIRC, they are shortstroke dampers designed for cars lowered more than 1.75"...you may want to look into them as well.

Neuspeed Koni SP3. The shock bodies are shortened by 20 mm, the height adjuster has 5 positions instead of the normal 3 (assuming you're using a plain spring and not a coilover sleeve), and it is revalved to provide good damping over a shorter stroke. $510 for the set from tornactive.com.

What do you mean by "cheap"? That could be anything. Define a specific budget.

If you're looking for something a bit more affordable, Koni Special (a.k.a. Red) will work pretty well and they're about $325 for the set depending where you buy them from. They have adjustable damping, but you can only adjust them when they are not on the car. If you want a more easily adjusted shock you can get a set of KYB AGXs which are about $400. Tokico Illuminas are perhaps a bit nicer than the AGXs but they run about $470 for the set which is awfully close to those Neuspeed Koni SP3s which are really the best option (within reasonable affordability, of course).

When you get aftermarket shocks, it will be stiffer, but you will not bounce as much. The shock keeps the spring from oscilating back and forth after you hit a bump, which would make you bounce up and down even after you hit the bump if not damped. So, ya you won't be doing that anymore if that's whats happening to u.

Make sure your dust covers are not hitting the shock when it compresses, this happened to me when I put in my gc's and I had no suspension travel at all.
