DC2 vs DC5?
i always hear a lot of hype about the DC2 ITR and how great it is and all of that, and one day i plan to own one myself. but what about the DC5 type R. is it not as good or what? i have heard virtually nothing about this car. whats the deal?
There is no DC5 type r in north america...that's why you haven't heard anything.
Personally, I've driven both & wouldn't trade my 113,000 mile '98 R for a new type s + $20,000. It would take that much to make it competative. .02

However, having said that, it's noteworthy that the EP3 and DC5 are nowhere close to equalling the race record of the DC2. They just aren't making it.
Famous tuners and teams seem to be looking to the CL7 to provide the real replacement to the DC2. The list opting for the CL7 includes Spoon Sports, Real Time Racing, and King Motorsports. The CL7 combines the new K motor with the double wishbone suspension similar to the old DC2.

But back on topic, http://asia.vtec.net/article/Spoon2/index.html. And there have been track battles/trials (I believe it may have been bestmotoring or similar) specifically featuring the new more powerful DC5R vs. the DC2R... (2 tuned and 2 stockish, one of each type all by the same shop) and guess what the end result was?
tuned DC2R, stockish DC2R, tuned DC5R and then stockish DC5R... and this was from a balanced starting grid too... I was most surprised that the stockish DC2 was able to overtake the tuner DC5R in that trial...
if the dc5 r ever comes to the states i don't think it would be worth the money. if u like the dc5 i would suggest just getting a dc5 type s and giving mugen or toda a call. but in my opinion, i would much rather get a dc2 r.
I like the DC2 better then the DC5 any every aspect. Everyday driveability, handliing, power and looks, the DC5 is a great car but I would take a GSR over the Type S but for now I guess i'll just settle for the 01 ITR.
