The advantage to the newer cars is the nicely torquey and tunable K motors.
However, having said that, it's noteworthy that the EP3 and DC5 are nowhere close to equalling the race record of the DC2. They just aren't making it.
Famous tuners and teams seem to be looking to the CL7 to provide the real replacement to the DC2. The list opting for the CL7 includes Spoon Sports, Real Time Racing, and King Motorsports. The CL7 combines the new K motor with the double wishbone suspension similar to the old DC2.
