Help with code 43 on 91 ls motor.
I was messing around with the vacuum lines trying to get them right with the motor running and all of the sudden the motor started to like pop and stuff. The ecu is flashing 43 which is fuel supply system. what could this be that would happen all of the sudden like this?
Code 43 can mean either a problem with the oxygen sensor or a problem in the fuel supply system. The Helms manual says if the code is accompanied with poor driveability (sounds like this is the case) then it is indeed something in the fuel supply system.
Which of the following symptoms does the car have?
- Engine won't start
- Difficult to start engine
- Rough idle
- Misfire or rough running
- Fails emission test
- Loss of power
- Frequent stalling while warming up
- Frequent stalling after warming up
Sounds to me like you have "misfire or rough running" which would indicate (according to the Helms) something wrong with the fuel injectors.

ya, maybe i will swap out the fuel injectors for the others i have, i have the teg ones sitting on the shelf, i have the civic si ones in now, they worked fine when they were in my stock motor, and for a while in this motor then started runnign rough. Now the code isn't flashing on the ecu since i reset it, but it is still running rough, not popping like it was though.
