That's what the Helms manual specifies as the service limit. The recommended range is 0.039 to 0.043 like I already posted.

First thing to do is run a compression and leakdown test, which will give you a better idea of what's going on.

aight thanks, i dont think its anything too serious i think i just overreacted. also do i have to regap my spark plugs everytime i put new ones in? and if i dont have a torque wrench how do i tighten it to 13 lbs/ft

Unless the new spark plugs come with the correct gap out of the box, you should set the gap to recommended spec.

If you think there's a problem it wouldn't hurt to have at the very minimum a compression test done. If all four cylinders look good on that you won't have any more worries.

13 lb/ft isn't a whole lot of torque, just make sure they're in there nice and secure but you don't need to put a whole lot of force is all.

Oh and a torque wrench is a good investment for any shadetree mechanic.

dont worry im going to advanced auto parts tomorrow and buying a torque this is just for overnight until i get my new plugs, thanks a lot for your help. U still live in rockville?

I'm from Rockville, but I go to school in Madison. I'll be interning somewhere in the DC area this summer though.
